Ran a 7-miler on Saturday. Did it in 1:13...the last mile was ssssslllooowww. I am glad to have it behind me. I felt good after I ran it, but then about 2 hours later, my knees were really killing me. I felt like an old lady! Okay you seasoned runners, what should I have done? Ice? Do I need new shoes? What's the deal?
Am on my way to do 5 miles this morning...will letcha know how my knees feel after that.
Did any of you watch the marathon on the Olympics? Wow! The lady who won gold was a 38-year old Romanian and ran a 5.76 minute mile!!! I couldn't believe it!

She was awesome, wasn't she? They are all awesome! Makes me want to eat healthier and exercise more!
You are doing awesome too!! I am very proud of you!
Lindsey believes in ice. I would rather just get in a hot tub and soak or let the jets massage your pains away. I am sure Lindsey is right (but it couldn't feel near as good as soaking in a hot tub!!)
Knees fine today...our on-site physician (DR. RGK) suggested that I train another run day on the road to get my knees used to the jarring. I do most of my runs on the treadmill due to sitter reasons (hopefully that will change when school starts). So, I will try to get another run on the road in and hopefully my knees will be more accustomed to the unforgiving road! ;) Thanks for the suggestions!
Ice speeds up recovery, icy hot is great too! I think part of it is just the act of rubbing your legs. They say that even though a warm bath feels good, its not good (mom!) This months runners world said to have hot chocolate in your ice bath. 10-15min soaking in icy water then turn on a warm shower, and you'll feel like a million bucks, I guarantee it.
